My Reflection

We have been learning to use problem  solving skills to solve  tangram puzzles.  I found this tricky because we had to use all the pieces.  I had to use resilience  to stick with  this and solve the puzzle. my next step is to try and solve all the puzzles.

I am learning to write a narrative story.  I was able to write most of this story by my self.  I found this easy  because I knew what my story was going to do.  My next step is to add more into.

This is my Korowai  I have been working on it for the last  two terms.  We also had an art evening but my mum and dad didn't come to it. I am happy about my work I hope we have  more art work like this.and My favourite part of this art work was when I was making it.

I am learning to  write a  Character Description.   

I was able to some character traits about Stanley from the book, Holes.  I found this hard because I didn't get it in the start  but I got help and that helped me.  My next step is to think carefully about the characters in stories I read to help me understand it better.

I learnt that a sand tiger shark is 2.8 meters long my favourite part  of this trip was the shark

I have been learning to  Finding fractions of Numbers I found this hard because I didn't know what 3/5 of 30 was my next step is to ask for help when I need it.

I have been writing  a   100 Word Challenge  I found this hard because I keep on forgetting what a simile was. My next step is to remember  what  a simile is.

I have been learning to use a glossary , index and table of context we researched albatross and created a slideshow about the facts we learnt I found it helpful to use the contents and index to find more information and use the glossory  to  learn about the meaning of words . I didn't know . my next step is to use the index more ofetn to find information.

I have been learning  to use a standard unit of Measurement  to measure things. I found this hard because I didn't know what some of them meant . m next step is to know all of them.

I have been learning to read texts accurately and fluently and developing expression ' reading. one thing   I  learnt was when to take  action.  my next step is to be ready and take action at the right time.

Features of Explanation Writing

My Refiection

I have been learning the features of explanation  writing.  The features of an explanation text are to having a title, an introduction, present tense, conjunctions, connectives and a ending.  I found this hard because I missed out on the lesson.  My next step is to write my own explanation using the features.

Spelling -k Sound

Refection

I have been learning  to recognise the different ways of spelling the k sound in words. I was surprised that some of them can go in the same place. I now know that there more then 1 or 2 ways to do the k sound. this will help me in my spelling because i now what vowels go in the k and c sound  my next step is to use the k sound in my wirteing.

I have been learning to write metaphors.  A metaphor is when you compare something to something but don't use as or like.  My next step is to use metaphors in my writing.

My reflection
I been learning to make connections (bath implicit  and explicit) from the text.  Implicit  use  clues from the text because it doesn't  say directly.  Explicit  is when says it in the text .  I found this hard because I don't now what the words mean.  My next step is to I can connect ideas form other texts i have read.

I have been learning to make connections in texts.I read . we read a story called ' storm gets a new family ! A connection i made to the story was  that i have a dog to and she got abandoned  on the street and than we took her in. I found  this  interesting was that storm  got  through  the fence before it fell  because  the fence wood  of fell by then. i learnt  how to take care of dog  my next step is to use  prior knowledge to connect ideas  in the text.

Statistical Inquiry Cycle

My Reflection

i have been learning to conduct a simple statistical inquiry. I investigated what  room 24's favourite colour is blue  was . I discovered  that room 24 least favourite was red and orange I was surprised that room 24  favourite  colour  was blue my next step is to use a table in google sheets to display the data.

Welcome to my Year 5 learning blog. This Year I am in Room 24 and my teacher is Mrs Melville.  I  enjoy sport.  A goal I have this year is to is to learn my time tables. I hope you enjoy my blog and leave lots of feedback.
